The fall season not only ushers in increasingly shorter days and pumpkin spice everything; it also marks the start of Libra season.

Libra is one of the twelve signs of the zodiac, an ancient system based on the position of the sun in the sky on someone’s date of birth.

In the zodiac calendar, Libra comes after Virgo and before Scorpio, and out of the four elements (earth, fire, water and air), it is categorized as an air sign.

Libras also have a heightened sense of empathy, which can sometimes backfire on them, says New York City-based astrologer Rebecca Gordon.
